Meet the maker….

Hello. how are you?

I’m so glad you have stopped in for a look, it’s an honor and I hope you find something you fall in love with.. something that you take on adventures near and far for years to come.

Carrie J here, metalsmith/janitor/business operator of Range of Light Studio located in Montana. I am a part time metalsmith located in the beautiful Flathead Valley of Montana. I fell in love with Montana 22 years ago after traveling here from my home of Alaska.

Montana seemed like a good mix of outdoor junkies, ranchers and folks in love with wide open spaces. I have a love of jewelry and things that make you feel pretty and special- pieces that wear with you over the years.. oh the stories they could tell.

I spent the last 20 years working wildland fire for a variety of land based agencies and traveled to so many wonderful spaces and places. It has been an honor to serve amongst brave women and men around the fire community. I thank each and every one of you for the laughs, adventures and dirty smiles along the way. I found one of the greatest loves of my life in fire and cherish the memories.

I moved away from wildland fire to work as a Community Forester for a local non-profit. It has furthered my love of the land, community and forest health. SOOO in my spare time, besides being a full time dog and kitten mom I try to get in the woods often.. Deep soulful walks change a perspective, outlook and return me to work and family with a greater sense of purpose. I have a great love for mountain biking, peak bagging and travel.

Wishing you wonder and joy as the sun rises and sets- I hope you feel happy and joyful with this one adventure. I sure do!
